STC, SECCA and Local Manufacturers to Offer New Training Program to High School Students

Local manufacturers, Southeastern Early College and Career Academy (SECCA) and Southeastern Technical College (STC) have partnered to offer a new dual enrollment certification program for high school students interested in general and advanced manufacturing careers.  The Certified Manufacturing Specialist (CMS) certificate program will start in August of 2012 and end in May of 2013.  The goal of this one year program is to help students develop the skills necessary to gain employment and advance in today’s highly technical manufacturing environment.  Students who complete this program will

First TIA Project Beginning in Toombs County

The State Transportation Board and Georgia DOT officials announced the first local TIA funded project is set to begin on SR 130 in Toombs County.  The project will add a dedicated turn lane to serve a new pet food manufacturing facility that will bring a $25 million private capital investment and between 100 and 150 new jobs to the area.

VHS Students Get a Jump Start on a Bright Future

Fifteen Vidalia High School students recently earned their Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) industry certification in Word 2010.  The MOS exam is the only performance-based certification that validates the skills needed to get the most out of Microsoft Office.  Earning a MOS certification can give students an advantage in today’s competitive job market and expand their employment opportunities.  Business and Computer Science teachers, Mrs. Gloria Helms and Mrs. Donna Collins are proud of their students and the 100% passing rate of the class.
